Sunset Girl

By Gordon Wolfgang

I met this girl on highway 99

She jumped into my car and nearly blew my mind

We drove on down the coast and split a bottle of wine

The sun was going down, it barely gave a shine

My sunset girl, my sunset girl

My sunset girl, she’s my sunset girl

The hours slipped away and we stayed up all night

This was the perfect girl, I knew, I knew she was right

This woman made me smile, she made my life complete

This was the perfect one, this woman sure was sweet

The days passed us by, and she slipped into my life

The time was here and now and captured as my wife

But as the story went, she was had and lost

The party is still happenin’, romance at all cost

We’ve been together now, for over 20 years

From Munich to Lahaina, so many tears

But now the story goes everything is great

My wife is that sunset girl, it was always fate

Memories So Sweet

By David Skaare and Gordon Wolfgang

On that September night oh so long ago

That door flung open and her sunshine struck my eye

She walked across the room. I followed every move that she did play

We leaned against the Jukebox and talked all night

Now looking back, I think about those wonderful times

A smile comes across my face, memories are so sweet

Our life was planned, on our journey we did launch

Three kids, a big house, and a comfortable life

Our life together was perfect in every single way

Many years passed, our lives seemed so full

Then came the day the towers fell and our lives changed

The doctor called with some news that shouldn’t be shared

The time that remains, is never quite enough

Don’t just watch, your here to live

Unfulfilled Dream

By David Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, and Rick Miller

Drivin’ to work on another day

Traffic jam of life – all the way

Day dreaming then she – just drives by

And MAZ280 catches my eye

I escape in wanting you (needing, loving)

I escape in wanting you (needing, loving)  … yes I do

From a far I watch you as you drive by

A chance meeting everyday can’t go far

Miles melt away as we just drive on

Get to work, the job is never gone

We pass one day, there's a freezing glance

A smile, she’s checkin’ me out, I can’t advance

But like a dog chasin’ a bus

There is no chance – for the two of us

September Morning

By David Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, and Rick Miller

In the quiet and the still, September morn

I contemplate the meaning of life

Ponder collage bills of my first born

Lament a bit about the troubles of my wife

September Morning, September Morning,

September Morning, September Morning

Get back from a brisk fall run

Cool down, the paper, and a cup of coffee

Get ready for work day so much fun

These are the rituals that are me

I long for a place so far away

A simple life, a pace that makes some sense

Challenges and crosses fill my day

The trick is to do it – so intense

Teddy Missed the Bridge

By David Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, Rick Miller, Mike Sadowski, and Brian York

On that fateful night in 1969

Two people, they left a party

With love making on their mind

A car slipped off a bridge, into Poucha Pond

And Mary Jo’s saving air was four feet too far beyond

Oh, Teddy Missed the Bridge, The story has never been told

Oh, Teddy Missed the Bridge, And Mary Jo never grew old

He said he left the party, he said he should have taken a left

Down old Dike Road they traveled

Both of ‘em out of breath

It was downtown to the left, it was East Beach to the right

But as it happened to old TK, it wasn’t a very good night

The Hyannis port mafia, kicked into full gear

Misinformation and lies were leaked

For well over a year

Now thirty years down the road, Teddy’s conscience is getting to him

Cause Mary Jo always told him, I gotta learn how to swim

Into the Breach

By David Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, Rick Miller, Mike Sadowski, and Brian York

Motoring down that Country Road

Humming with a song on the radio

A vision appeared, and then I slowed

T-Shirt, Tight Shorts, off we go

Into the Breach we soar

Live out loud is our rebel cry

Not sure what we have in store

Running together until we die

County two lane – movin’ on

Always goin’, we push ‘til dawn

Stop for a while, we can’t go back

Seal our love to a thunder crack

On my arm she lays that night

The warmth of her body so sure

Glowing moon…shows her sight

My love for her…is so pure

Reduce the Pain

By David Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, Rick Miller, Mike Sadowski, and Brian York

The Tic tock of the busy world clamors in your ear

Politics jam the practice of everything that's dear

But you walk in the door after a busy day

Two smiles ignite and rearrange the night of that busy day

Busy day

You sit down for dinner, and everything is right

You enjoy the evening - that slips into night

But time is to short, here comes another day

Another fight, without delight in a busy day

Busy day

Daily trials with nightly smiles

They keep your mind sane

Many miles, and timely smiles

Help reduce the pain…reduce the pain…

The rituals of life and fear of loosing it all

Keep your muscles tuned, and help you carry the ball

But that walk from the cold into the kitchen’s light

Two smiles ignite and rearranged the night of that busy day

Busy day

….Reduce the Pain,  I’m not insane

Two Lives

By David Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, Rick Miller, Mike Sadowski, and Brian York

On a dark evening two lives end

One life gone, one wasted, ya can’t pretend

A skater versus a car and a bottle

A swerve on fifty second at full throttle

The day started with so much promise - Now two lives lost without a kiss goodbye

The skater was a kid of 15

He helped to keep that church yard clean

He was a good kid, his name was Jesse

The crash scene was wicked the body was messy

The driver was 18 and in college

He lived a good life - one of privilege

Derek had a few beers at a party

The crash that night changed his life completely

These two lives had so much to give

Jesse looking for wealth and for brawn

Derek started his Life to live

They’ll never see that - they are gone

With Me

By Gordon Wolfgang

Walk with me, Through a leaf colored forest

Even though you do not feel your best

Walk with me, Across a covered bridge to the other side

For I walk with you full of pride

Be my baby - I’ll be yours

Be my baby - For evermore

Talk with me, About your dreams so deep

The things that make you not sleep

Talk with me, About your pain and your strife

To share the joys of our life

Wait for me, For I want only you

Standing in the beautiful morning dew

Wait for me, On the other side

Together always - mystified

Homeless

By David Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, Rick Miller, Mike Sadowski, and Brian York

I wake up in the mist

Didn’t know if I’d been missed

Another day comes am I alive

Walk to places that I know

People seem to see me – no

Another day comes am I alive

Yes I am, I am alive

Nobody sees me but I am alive

Oh yes I am, I am alive

Nobody sees me but I can survive

At an exit ramp to

Pray for a buck or two

Another day comes am I alive

People look straight through me so

People get back what they sow

Another day comes am I alive

Family does not want me there

Not tolerant of me they’re

Another day comes am I alive

The end comes soon - for

A homeless life is short, died at 34

Another day comes am I alive

No I’m not, I’m not alive

Nobody saw me when I was alive

No I’m not, I’m not alive

Nobody cared when I died

Hope

By Dave Skaare and Gordon Wolfgang

One day we woke and our world broke

Scrapers falling on our TV

Normalcy comes, but our life is still shaken

Resilience and pride is what we see

America will be back

Safety is challenged by a powder scare

Two shootin’ mad men terrorize our nation

The instability to our kids not fair

I thought life was perfect for our generation

America will be back

Those who break the laws of God

Are brought to justice by their peers

Fighters for truth they will applaud

It is time to stand up and confront our fears

America will be back

Don’t Always Do What I Say

By Dave Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, Rick Miller, Mike Sadowski, and Brian York

I sit here and wonder what to give my kids

Benefits of all the mistakes I have made

Comfort them, things will be all right, so live

Share time so they remember me fondly

There are times to follow the rules

Then there's are times to Break ‘em

Times to be a Saint

Then there's times to fake ‘em

I was the one that always listened and followed the rules

I suggest you play outside the box

Do not always confine yourself, that’s for fools

(and for sure) Don’t always listen to what I say

Be someone that defines the path you take

Do not be molded by what others think

Don’t look back or regret the life you make

Don’t always do what I say

I’m Done

By Dave Skaare, Gordon Wolfgang, Rick Miller, Mike Sadowski, and Brian York

Worked in the same place for 25 years

Bled company blue, traveled where ever the need

Spent weeks from home too many beers

Didn’t ask for much, a thank you, no greed

The glow is gone, it is time to move on

This time comes to everyone

There were many times when this place was fine

Esprit de corps, a team together, one

Many friends that I would call mine

The challenges kept everyone on the run

Looking back, when did it break down

The change of the guard, lookin’ in from the outside

No regrets, still proud, not a frown

But like sea foam, it goes out with the tide

The One I Work For

By Gordon Wolfgang

I spend my nights at a beer drenched mic in a smoky room

Thinkin’ about a life that could have been

The last drunk leaves and I’ll be goin’ home soon

To see my girl light up as I walk in the room

She is the one I work for

All of the time

She is the one I work for

She’s mine, mine all mine, yes, she's mine

I road a star to the big time and a stadium stage

Ran fast, lived hard, put millions up my nose

Made music for thousands into my middle age

Squandered the thing that I believed in most

My senses peak to that sweet smell as she walks by

I come back to earth from some far off dreams

My girl still keeps me after my star fell from the sky

Now it’s small bars, tip jars – life is better it seems
